Commercial building water, fuel and refrigerant gas leak detection
Commercial properties are highly susceptible to liquid leaks from water, fuel oils and refrigerant gas. Leaks can be found in areas and rooms that contain toilet blocks, tea points, wet risers and diesel generators. These leaks can damage the building fabric, fixtures and fittings which can be costly to repair.
Damage to critical areas such as server rooms, data halls and comms rooms can lead to periods of downtime, loss of functionality and a potential loss of data which, for any company, can be even more damaging than replacing the fixtures.
Other applications include hotels, hospitals, apartment blocks, schools and universities, museums and galleries along with office buildings.
Typical commercial building leak detection applications
Water within the floor void of any data/server room can be disastrous. The mix of water and high humidity in these vital water-sensitive areas can result in complete equipment shut-down, often leading to company downtime as well as a requirement to replace all vital equipment after an extensive clean-up operation.
The TT1000 Water Sensing Cable, installed within the floor void, monitors for water leaks originating from pipework and AC units within the equipment room or for water ingress from external sources. Leak detection provides early warning allowing for necessary repairs to be made preventing damage to vital equipment, building fabric, fixtures and fittings.
Tea points, kitchens and other wet servery areas are a common source of leaks. The presence of multiple wet appliances such as dishwashers, sinks, coffee machines and zip taps can often suffer with leaking pipework and/or connection points.
The installation of a TT1000 Water Sensing Cable or AT-PROBE-TS Water Detection Probes on the floor, under the units provide early warning for potential leaks preventing extensive damage to the building fabric, fixtures and fittings.
Toilet blocks commonly cause damage to buildings when leaks occur. Such leaks result in wet damage as well as waste damage which causes additional expense and inconvenience due to the obvious health and safety issues.
The installation of AT-PROBE-TS Water Detection Probes to monitor sinks, WC cisterns and pipework provide an early warning of issues before extensive leaks occur in order to prevent the spread of waste water in the building.
Plant rooms, electrical switch rooms and similar areas contain vital, expensive equipment which provide power, heat, water and other utilities to the building.
Equipment can fail resulting in catastrophic leaks in these vital areas. Such leaks can render a building unsafe or unusable for prolonged periods of time while vital systems are repaired.
The installation of AT-PROBE-TS Water Detection Probes around water storage tanks, pumps, sprinkler systems and other wet areas provide an early warning of issues before extensive leaks occur preventing the spread of water through vital areas.
Standby Power (Diesel Generator Systems) are standard in most commercial buildings. These can have leakage issues
with fuel from the engine, pipework connection points or the fuel storage tank. Alternatively, loss of coolant or hydraulic fluid, which could potentially cause damage to the engine, are commonplace problems and a potential source of
great expense.
The installation of the AT-OPSEN Optical Sensor around the equipment monitors for fuel and liquid leaks preventing potential damage to equipment, possible environmental issues and loss of standby power.
